Explore is honored to have Sandy Munro at the bookstore with his delightful book Aspen Unstrung. Sandy came to Aspen in 1969 with his wife Mary Lynn built the house they still live in on Medicine Bow Road, taught physics at Aspen High, and ran the guitar shop where Grape & Grain is for 30 years. The book tells of Aspen in the days of George Stranahan, Nic DeWolf, Paul Soldner, and Clifford Irving. Author Jim Hougan (who wrote as John Case) called Aspen Unstrung "a layered love song to a girl who became a woman, and a town that became an icon. A haiku drenched in music about lives lived to the fullest." Jan Garrett says, "It is so beautifully written, a great salute to the Soul of Aspen, and such a lovely personal arc of lives well-lived and enjoyed. I just had a shit-eating grin on my face pretty much the whole time. I applaud your wonderful description of the emotional openness and heartfelt idealism of the late 60's/early 70's."
