Long-time Aspen journalist John Fayhee with his new book
Former staff writer for the Aspen Daily News, Aspen Times, Aspen Journalism, Aspen Sojourner, Aspen magazine, and Aspen Peak. Author of 10 previous titles, editor of the Mountain Gazette for 12 years, long-time contributing editor at Backpacker magazine, twice a finalist for the Colorado Book Awards.
His book, A Long Tangent: A year of hiking, musings & rants from an old man and his young dog is about his dog and him hiking every day for a solid year. Mostly in New Mexico but ample mentions of Colorado. Not just a chronological narrative, but a memoir and reminiscence of a long life spent on trails. It is edgy and has much verbiage that will be considered controversial.
