Calling all Aspiring Writers! Friday June 24 at 12:30 PM at Explore! Former elementary teacher, storyteller, children’s author and storytelling podcast host, Kathleen Pelley will share her writer’s “roots”—exploring how her childhood in Scotland and Ireland led to her becoming a writer, a reader, a teller, and a listener of stories. She will finish with some tips on how to keep your writer’s roots nourished and watered (suitable for ages 6 and up). All attendees will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a set of three of Kathleen’s Picture Books.

Kathleen Pelley is the award-winning author of nine picture books, some of which have been included on the “best of the year” lists in Bank Street College of Education and were named as Colorado Book Award Winners. She is a native of Glasgow, Scotland and a former elementary school teacher. For twelve years she narrated books for the blind, for twenty years she was a storyteller at a low income school in Denver, and she is a frequent presenter at schools and conferences on topics such as Linking Literature to Life, and How and Why to Read Aloud to Your Children.
