Children's author Kimberly Miller comes to Explore Sunday afternoon July 3 at 2 PM to read from her new picture book Webster.
Webster is a spider who is excited (and a little anxious) about the new year and his new school. As Webster's mother drops him off he heads into a day filled with mishaps and meanies. Webster discovers that what makes him unusual makes him unique. Everyone is different, and that is magnificent!
Kimberly Miller has a degree in Elementary Education and taught fourth-grade. She and her husband Charles have two young adult kids and live with their dog, Stella, and cat, Gucci, in Houston, Texas. The story idea for Webster came from her experience teaching and seeing all the dynamics of different personalities in a classroom. She saw kids’ insecurities, the courage it takes to try to make friends, and the heartbreak when they are excluded, or kids are mean to them. Be kind, be accepting, be a good friend, be appreciative of differences, and be yourself! The illustrator Elettra Cudignotto is from Vicenza, Italy and has a degrees in Visual Arts, Economics, and Management of Arts.
