Children’s picturebook author Luke Lowenfield will be at Explore to share his books Buenas Noches El Paso and Muchas Gracias Maria with kids.
In a gentle, poetic style, Lowenfield integrates Spanish colloquialisms common to El Paso in his storytelling. Illustrator and fine artist, Hal Marcus, derived his sense of color from the Mercado in Juarez, Mexico, where his grandmother would take him shopping during his childhood. Marcus brings desertscapes to life with vibrant images that reflect the joyful spirit of the community.

Aspen High's D.R.A.M.A. will be presenting "Not a Cabaret," in which students perform over a wide range of oeuvres: musical numbers, spoken word performances, dramatic renditions. "Not a Cabaret" celebrates the creative work students do in their free time by giving them a theater and an audience. We seek to celebrate community and create spaces where students will be supported in their artistic ventures.
