National Book Award Winners – Nonfiction / 2008 - 1984

The National Book Awards are among the most eminent literary prizes in the United States. Started in 1950, they are presented annually to American authors for literature published in the prior year. While historically there have been other categories, today the awards are made in four areas: fiction, nonfiction, poetry and young people's literature.
