Here you'll engage in a literary discussion with the author, ask questions, and come away with true insight into the subject. Our events are intimate, engaging, enriching. Join us and meet the nation's leading authors, scientists and social commentators -- from today's bestsellers and Pulitzer Prize winners to world leaders and renowned experts in their fields.
Summer 2009:
This summer is shaping up as our biggest season ever -- keep watching this page as more and more of the world's most interesting, best-selling authors set dates for book events at Explore and are added to this list.
June 14; 4 PM. Garth Stein, author of the run-away N.Y. Times Bestsller, The Art of Racing in the Rain, comes to Explore. Meet the creator of this amazing, wonderful bittersweet and transformative story of family, love, loyalty and hope; A story narrated by the family dog Enzo, a canine philosopher with a nearly human soul who has gained a wealth of knowledge from hours spent in front of the TV.
June 22; 7 PM. Last summer's epicN.Y.Times Bestseller and Oprah Book Club pick, The Story of Edgar Sawtelleis one of the most praised novels in years... a book that already is considered amust read, but even more importantly is one you want to read. Meet the author, David Wroblewski for one of our biggestbook signing events of the season.
June 27; 4 PM. Join Dr. Michael Collins as he introduces his second memoir, Blue Collar, Blue Scrubs. June 28, 6:30 PM. Bestselling author James Rollins adds Explore to his national tour for his new book, The Doomsday Key. June 30: 2 PM: Supreme Court Justice (retired) Sandra Day O'Connor signs her new children's book, Finding Susie -- a somewhat autobiographical story about a young girl searching for the right animal she can keep as a pet. A wonderful story for early readers with a lesson about wild animals and nature, a copy of Finding Susie signed by the author will be a generational treasure. Join Justice O'Conner as she talks about her children's stories as well as Majesty of the Law and her remarkable life.
July 3: 4 PM: Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. Closely connected to affairs of state around the world and politics at the highest levels, Secretary Albright will discuss and answer your questions about foreign and national policy as well as sign books, including Memo to the President.
July 6; 5 PM. Enjoy complimentary POMtinis and a dazzling talk by "Pom Queen" Lynda Resnick -- the creator of the whole pomegranate juice phenomena and one of the world's most successful business women. July 8; 5 PM. Stuart Brafman kept his grandchildren entranced with tales about a group of animal friends that lived in the wilds surrounding Aspen. Encouraged to put his yarns down on paper, Brafman compiled the best of his stories in The Adventures of Jack the Owl, a children's book so delightful that renowned New England watercolor artist Linda Roberts was thrilled to illustrate it. July 9; 4 PM. Novelist Scott Lasser reads from and signs his new book, The Year that Follows. July 15; 3 PM. Jill Sheeley is one of our most popular local children's authors and children delight in her books about The Adventures of Fraser the Yellow Dog as well as her new young adult novel, The Blue Bottle. But it is even more fun to hear the author herself read the story - your kids will be enthralled. And Jill always brings healthy treats.
July 27; 1 PM. Historic Colorado is the ideal souvenir of your great times in the nation's highest state and the ideal book for getting on the road and exploring the fascinating remnants of the state's Western history... from ghost-towns, to mining and railroad sites, to Native American points-of-interest and the locations that highlight our ranching and cowboy past.
