Carbondale native Micah Springer to read from her 100% PC Recycled book, Keepers of the Story
Born and raised in Carbondale, Micah Springer joins us from Denver for an afternoon of storytelling. In Keepers of the Story, Micah recounts her 1993 journey of backpacking through Africa for nearly a year. She and a friend leap headlong into cultural misunderstanding, crocodiles, and corruption, imperiling their lives and testing their lucky stars. The Motherland unveils her deepest mysteries when Micah falls in love with a nomadic warrior and his rich tradition. Sex, alienation, danger, longing, unwritten languages, and moonlight dances become Micah’s pathway to inner wisdom and the divine.
This event will also focus on how Micah refused traditional publication in order to preserve trees and create a 100% PC recycled book. Micah was raised in the Roaring Fork Valley, and feels much of her passion for the natural world stems from being reared amongst the trees, wildlife and river confluences.
